Tampa

Rachel and I are taking a trip to Tampa, Florida tomorrow. We are only staying for the weekend, but it will be a jam packed weekend! We are planning a trip to Busch Gardens on Saturday, so I know we will get a lot of sun that day! Last year, I got a really red face from being there all day, and I ended up with a great tan from just a day in the sun! This time, I believe sunscreen will be on the list to take!! I didn't even think about it last time. So far, the summer has been calm. The car is at the shop right now for an oil change, tire rotation, and general checkup. Gotta have a car in top notch shape for a road trip! See ya later!!

Summer is finally here~

I can't believe it, but summer is finally here! Today was the first real day off from work. I have felt amazingly calm all day, and that is a feat in itself!! After visiting with my daddy for a while this morning, I came home and started going through some dresser drawers. I actually found a few things that have been lost for a long time, and I was able to put together several pairs of earrings that had been lost from each other for quite a while. There is plenty more to do, but a lot got done. My back is aching pretty much, but it is for a worthy cause. I found Adam's birth certificate and Social Security card that we thought were lost somewhere~I had a feeling that both of those things had been put into some type of envelope and taken somewhere for copies to be made, or for some type of official application, or whatever, and I was right! They were together in an unmarked white envelope, so they must have been in that envelope together for some reason. The envelope was on my dresser way back behind some things! We ordered a new birth certificate last year and he got a new SS card last year, also. I found my favorite Fossil watch that I have been wanting to send back to the Fossil people! In order to get a new battery, the watch has to go to Fossil! I also found my little nail clipper with purple on top that I have been blaming everyone else for losing! I also went through my jewelry boxes and located some "missing" items. You see, I dropped both of my jewelry boxes, at different times, flat on the floor, and I am not sure that I got everything back in them. Also, I have a lot of things that I have just been sticking in a drawer or inside a small bowl or whatever, and those things have not been in any kind of order. I am always in such a hurry that I do not take care of things anymore. Now that summer is here, I have GOT to get more things found and organized.
I made a violin cake for my sister in law's birthday, and it turned out pretty well. That is, until I stopped for a red light and it slipped in the car!! I attempted to make a neat little teapot and cups for Mother's Day. It didn't turn out exactly right, but I am going to try that one again. I am making a fish shaped cake for tomorrow, Father's Day. My daddy loves to fish, so I am making the cake in that shape.
I smell the cake, so I better get it out of the oven. TaTa!!

School's out for the summer!

I like the song called School's Out for the Summer! I posted it on my facebook page today. I did a YouTube search for the song, and I found one that was done on the Muppets back in the 70's. I thought it was cute, and it is the same song.
Teachers will still go to work for one more week, but the children will not be there. It is getting pretty hot around here, so it is a good thing that school is finally out for the summer. I do not have a lot planned to do, but I am sure interesting things to do will pop up here and there. Recently, the Air Force Brats Spangdahlem, Germany FB page has been in a flurry. Someone updated the site, and everyone has been posting memories of their times living there. Those years were so wonderful for all of us. They seem like the best times of our lives, even if we were all kids at the time.
I think that I posted on here that I found a site from someone in Canada who posts summaries of what happens on my soap opera The Young and the Restless, because Canada gets the shows a day ahead. Anyway, NOW I have found someone who posts the actual shows on YouTube, a day ahead! How lucky can you get? The uploads are in 9-12 minute increments, but there are no commercials. Maybe there is some sort of rule about how long of a piece you can post from a tv show, so they do them in three parts.
Well, I suppose I shall go for now. I hope you all have a great night!

My Taxes

I did it! I finally did my taxes today, and it only took the whole day! HA! Well, I started this morning and got pretty far, as far as printing them out. BUT, I must have made some mistakes, because I owed a ton. So, I let it rest for a while. Then, I restarted the whole thing. The problem was that the first time, the program kept confusing me about how to file. I have always filed as head of household, but this time I couldn't do it that way. I tried, since I was kind of supporting my son through college still, but things didn't work right. Anyway, long story short, I started all over and am getting back a whopping $18!!
Whew. We have state tax, too, and I am getting back a nice amount there. Georgia still owes me money, though. A few years ago, I was supposed to get back $372, or something like that. Georgia sent me $3.72. I called and called; I sent two more copies of the returns, but they never did fix it. SO, one of these days I am going to be in for a lot of extra money, counting interest. I need to get someone to help me with that, though, rather than doing the Turbo Tax thing.
So, that is off of my mind for now and I hope to fixate on something else now...like my dissertation!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
